14th – 16th June
On the 14th June over 100 Scouts, Cubs and Leader ascended on to a bit of land we call Dunnicliff Wood for a fun filled and action packed weekend.
After we all got settled in and unpacked out kit, we had our welcome and official opening by our DC Craig, He set out how the weekend was going to run including attempting to pull a sword out of a stone, after the talk it was then handed over to Adi the DESC and his trusty sidekicks the explorers to run the wide game for the evening, This involved teams trying to find the explorers who had different colored glow sticks for the teams to collect and the team who collected their color and brought it back won, Now that they was all hyped up they needed something to help calm them down and what better way to do that was to take them on one of Simon’s famous walks around the local area, and with out losing one of them.
Saturday morning we woke up to the smell and sounds of bacon and sausages being cooked for breakfast, Then it was off to the flag brake to find out what we will be doing, During the day we made crafts and fired catapults.
in the evening we had a special guest in the form of Laura Spencer who was one of our own who now runs the explorers in Lincolnshire, she came along to run the camp fire which was enjoyed by all despite the rain, also during the rain Adi ran another wide game.
Sunday started off with breakfast and flag break, then we all was split up to go and do activities, there was axe throwing, archery, zip wire plus more. in the afternoon we had out scouts own where we ended the camp, presented a few awards out and invested some young people, we also put the sword back into the stone to mark the end of the camp.
